Tour description

One of the best ways to explore the Reykjanes Peninsula is to take a jeep tour, fully immersing yourself in the nature of this region and understanding all the volcanic processes occurring in Iceland. The natural beauty of Reykjanes will enchant you with its coastline, vast lava fields, mud pots, and hot springs bubbling beneath the surface.

Let's kick off our tour with Lake Kleifarvatn, the largest lake on the peninsula and one of the deepest in Iceland. To reach it, we'll drive through picturesque lava fields and surrounding mountains. Looking at this magnificent lake, it's hard to imagine that it almost entirely drained into a fissure after an earthquake in the 2000s. Luckily, Kleifarvatn survived and will allow us to enjoy its beauty and vastness.

Next, we hop into the jeep, and our next stop is the Krisuvikurberg Cliffs, where thousands of seabirds nest in the summer, giving the area an impressive look with colorful cliffs. Then, we head to the charming town of Grindavik to refuel with energy, perhaps with the best lobster soup you've ever tasted.

After lunch, we'll go see one of the countless geological gems of Reykjanes. At the base of the cliffs is Brimektill, a natural lava pool formed by marine erosion. This beautiful phenomenon is also part of local troll legends, stating that it was the favorite bathing spot of the troll Oddny.

Passing through another active geothermal area, the colorful Gunnuhver field, boiling hot springs and fumaroles will accompany us on the way to Sandvik. Upon arrival at the beach, you'll be greeted by incredible dunes and remarkable black sand, creating a mysterious and unforgettable coastline panorama.

At this stage, brimming with emotions and vibrant photos, we can either head to warm up in the Blue Lagoon's geothermal pools or head back and relax at your hotel in Reykjavik.
